You all know well enough by now that I tend to be frugal with my spending and setting up of my home in preparation for a baby. I really do believe a full nursery is very unnecessary. However, even I can acknowledge that for individuals who have the financial means, setting up a nursery can be fun. So this isn’t about bare minimum what do you need. These are my 4 favorite nursery theme ideas so you can steal my dreams and set up your own perfect little nursery.
Perfectly Pink
I don’t believe in gendering my children, but I understand I’m an outlier in this. So! I have your generic “Pink” nursery here.
A nice soft blanket to pull the bedding ensemble together. Be warned that in the first year, best practice is for your baby to sleep without a blanket (look for a sleep sack if they need something).
For the changing table, I wanted a multi-functional piece. So you have a table, a place for dirty laundry, and some storage all in one.
For those late nights and a soothing feel, I love a rocker with a foot rest.
Decorations
No nursery is complete without a few decorations to soften the walls and bring it all together. While I admit I have a soft spot for family photos, I also found some other favorites. Be it butterflies, a dream catcher, simple art, or unique art, I think they all can really offer the final touches.
First Outfits
Beautifully Blue
Where there is pink, there must be blue. Blue is, hands down, one of my favorite colors. So I may have gotten a little carried away on this one. It’s just too fun though!
A smooth glider makes for a comfy place to put your little one asleep plus brings the room together.
Decorations
There are so many adorable little themes and feelings for blue rooms that I struggled to pick the set that I loved the most. There is simple and wooden, a mountain theme, or an animal theme. I think they’re all cute, and overall they compliment each other.
First Outfits
First outfits are some of my favorites! Be it just a single super cute outfit or a set of pajamas, your little one is definitely going to need some adorable new apparel.
Adorable Animals from the Zoo
Everyone loves animals with big eyes and soft colors. The zoo animal theme is a popular one for adults and children alike to enjoy.
The darker gray of this rocker can help little messes blend in a little more than something lighter might. I’m always a big fan of hiding little messes.
Don’t let space be a deterrent to getting the organizational furniture you need to make this room not only adorable but also functional. This corner shelf saves space and ensures you can store things accessibly.
Decorations
A few little decorations are here to bring the whole room together. The wall decals are one of my favorite, though do be warned that it does not come assembled in one giant sticker, so you will need to put up the pieces on your own. For the framed art, I couldn’t decide between the adult animals or the baby animals. I would do one, but I probably wouldn’t suggest both as they have slightly different styles.
First Outfits
Zoo animal print outfits are my absolute favorite! A little day time, a little night time and pajama. Either way, dress you baby to match their room. Haha!
Forever Forest
The forest, woodland themed nursery is actually one of my favorites. I think I love it because, simply put, I love the forest. If connecting my kids with nature can start with their bedrooms, then so be it!
The DaVinci Union crib grows with your child, offering you a crib, then a toddler bed with rails, and eventually a bed without rails. Why buy more furniture than you have to?
I really enjoy the simple look of the Emily Changing Table and the open shelves underneath offer plenty of space to store relevant diaper changing items.
Decorations
Decorations are the little, fine points that bring the room together. The wall decal comes in multiple pieces, so you will need to assemble it but you also have an opportunity to move things around to fit your space. For the wall artwork, I would only get one style, either the one with words or without, but not both. And the plush isn’t a must, but isn’t it so cute!
The Nursery for You
I can only hope that you were able to find a nursery that you loved, or at least were able to garner some inspiration from this post. Know that no matter what, your child will love any nursery you set up! If you used one of these suggestions, even if just to get some ideas from it, let me know which one in the comments!
I am considering creating one more nursery blueprint for you all, but I couldn’t decide between ocean, stars/space, and dinosaurs. Cast your vote in the comments below, or make your own suggestions even!
