Baby Swag Series: Swings

Baby Swag Series: Swings

Updated October, 2021

I am not a big swings person, honestly. I would rather my child practice their mobility and be able to move around, even very young and in their First Year. However, I’m not blind to the benefits of a swing. We invested in one and used it sparingly. It was really nice when we did use it. I know a lot of people swear by swings for colicky babies as well. Below are my top five swings.

The Mamaroo is the swing that we had at home for Monster. With 5 different swing settings, easily adjustable speed, sounds, and volume, it feels like 4 swings in one. Beyond your standard sway setting, there was a car setting, a rolling hills, and circles. Plus, it has a pretty good resale value on Craigslist, which is always a bonus in my opinion.

Fisher Price is a common brand that many households know and are familiar with. I’ve seen this particular swing in a lot of day cares (link to sending your baby to school coming Fall, 2022). There is a cute mobile for them to look at. Most importantly, it can be either battery or plugged in, offering you the ability to use in places that don’t have outlets or to save on batteries. Also, if matching furniture is important to you, there is also a bouncer with the same design.

Believe it or not, Snugabunny is exactly the same as the Snugapuppy, except it’s an older design. It does have a matching bouncer and floor mat, in case those things are particularly enticing to you as well.

I always try to shop around for more affordable or smaller space options as well. I use Graco for our car seats so I am confident that any swing they make will also be great. This one is affordable, doesn’t take up much space, and folds up nicely. It doesn’t come with 6 different settings or anything super fancy, but it’s cost efficient and it swings, which is really all it needs to do.

Okay, this last swing I will be the first to admit is kind of superfluous. I can’t help but love the remote control option and the look of it though. I can’t help but love the break from the traditional styles and it comes with a lot of adjustable options. Honestly, although number 5 on this list, in order of preference, I think it’s #1. I love the Honey Joy Baby Swing.
